He was punctual, very well organised and took me to some wonderful birding locations only local knowledge would allow. One day the weather prevented us visiting one destination but Pere adapted our itinerary on the hoof and took us elsewhere finding some other great and unexpected birds. He is extremely personable and his knowledge about birds and specifically the local avifauna is extensive. Having been unable to find the elusive Balearic Warbler on the day we went looking for it, Pere let me know of a couple of other sites I could check in my own time, which did lead to a success. I imagined we might see a couple of specimens if we were lucky - how wrong was I! We saw literally hundreds of these bold and friendly reptiles, and when we stopped for lunch they climbed all over us. A truly delightful species and an unforgettable wildlife encounter.On the bird front, we saw Eleonora's falcons, Balearic Warblers, a Peregrine, a Booted Eagle, a Blue Rock Thrush and many more. To our surprise, we also saw many dragonflies, particularly Red Veined Darters.Pere was an superb guide and host - both knowledgable and curious. He went out of his way to explain not just the fauna and flora of the Balearics, but also a little about the culture and history of Mallorca.
