Although smaller than Albufera, Albufereta wetland also holds a wide variety of birds and wildlife.
Purple heron, Common tern and Little ringed plover can be found in spring and summer. In late spring and early summer, many Eleonora’s falcons gather at Albufereta to feed on invertebrates, and Osprey can often be seen fishing in the ponds.
Many species of waders and other migratory birds use the wetland as stopover in their long journeys. Albufereta also hosts several species of orchids, including the mirror, sawfly, bumblebee and small-flowered tongue orchids.
