Son Bosc, a former fossil dune area south of Albufera, hosts Stone-curlew, Thekla’s lark, Tawny pipit, Red-legged partridge, etc.
In spring, Son Bosc is adorned with numerous flowers and many species of orchids bloom, including the rare Anacamptis robusta, the bug, mirror, bumblebee, small-flowered tongue and bee orchids; and the unique Anacamptis x albuferensis, a hybrid between A. robusta and A. coriophora only known from this area.
Stone-curlew, Thekla’s lark, Tawny pipit, Red-legged partridge, etc. In spring and early summer Bee-eaters, Woodchat shrike and Turtle dove breed in the area and in June flocks of Eleonora’s falcons can be seen feeding on beetles and other invertebrates.
The tour involves little walking as the birding spots are accessible by car. Son Bosc can be combined with another half-day visit to Albufera or Son Real for a full-day tour.
